Town Advisory Boards

Many passionate residents contribute their time and expertise by serving on Lantana's boards and committees.

The Lantana Firefighters' Pension Fund Board of Trustees manages the firefighters' pension fund in accordance with Sec. 14-103 of the Town's Code of Ordinances. Five (5) trustees serve four-year terms: Two (2) are Lantana residents appointed by the Town Council, two (2) are elected by firefighters, and one (1) is chosen by the other trustees with Town Council approval. Board meetings are held on a quarterly basis on the first Friday during the months of February, May, August and November at 9:00 a.m. in the Second Floor Conference Room at 7240 7th Place North, West Palm Beach, FL 33411 and are open to the public. 

The Lantana Police Relief and Pension Fund Board of Trustees manages the police pension fund in accordance with Sec. 14-79 of the Town's Code of Ordinances. The board consists of five (5) trustees who serve two-year terms. Two (2) are Lantana residents appointed by the Town Council, two (2) are police officers elected by the police pension fund participants, and one (1) trustee is chosen by a majority of the other four trustees. Board meetings are held on a quarterly basis on the first Wednesday during the months of February, May, August and November at 9:00 a.m. in the Lantana Police Department’s Multipurpose Room at 901 North 8th Street, Lantana, FL 33462 and are open to the public. 

The Lantana Planning Commission reviews development proposals, zoning changes, and land-use regulations per Article III, Chapter 23 of the Town's Code of Ordinances.  It also acts as the Zoning Board of Appeals. The Commission consists of five (5) voting members and two (2) alternates, all residents appointed by the Town Council to three-year terms. Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of the month (as needed) at 6:30 pm in the Town Hall Council Chambers and are open to the public.

The Town of Lantana is seeking qualified residents to fill vacancies on our Advisory Boards:

Lantana Firefighters’ Pension Fund Board of Trustees: Resident member position for a four-year term.

Lantana Planning Commission: Regular member position for a three-year term.

Important Note: Only residents of the Town of Lantana are eligible to apply.

Deadline: Applications must be received by August 30, 2024. The Town Council will consider applications for appointment/reappointment at their meeting on September 9, 2024.

Disclaimer: Pursuant to Article II, Section 5 (a) of the Florida Constitution, dual office holding is prohibited.  Accordingly, holding two (2) offices simultaneously within a county or municipality, whether elected or appointed, is strictly prohibited. Therefore, anyone who currently holds a position on a board within the Town of Lantana and wants to apply for another vacant position, would need to be prepared to vacate their current seat if they are appointed to the new one.
