Support Services

The Support Services Division manages the Lantana Police Department's communications center, staffed by four dispatchers. They handle emergency and non-emergency calls, operate the computer-aided dispatch system, and maintain criminal databases. The division also oversees property and evidence management, officer training, and school crossing guards. Effective October 1, 2009, the division provides dispatch services for the Town of South Palm Beach.

Property and Evidence: The Police department stores thousands of pieces of property and evidence. These items are individually labeled and stored pending disposition of court cases or disposal.

Dispatch: The police dispatcher is usually your first contact with the police department. They are assigned one per shift, and are responsible for answering all Emergency 911 and non-emergency telephone calls that are made within our Town, as well as a number of records keeping and administrative functions. Dispatchers are responsible for gathering and distributing information received so that your problem is addressed quickly and efficiently. The dispatcher is the first point of contact for anyone coming into the Police Department.

The Police Dispatch center handles over 45,000 calls for service or information per year, and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist citizens.

The property and evidence custodian is available Monday-Friday by appointment by calling 561-540-5704.
