Solar Checklist

Instructions: 

  • All permit applications, two paper copies, and one digital copy of permit documentation should be submitted to the Development Services Department.
  • Please note at this time we accept cash or check payments (due at submittal).
  • Please email buildingpermit@lantana.org with any questions regarding your submittal.

Please check to confirm submittal of the following:

  • Completed Permit Application for the solar project, including details on the type of solar project
  • Contractor Registration Details (State License/Competency, County BTR, Liability Insurance, Worker’s Compensation, Qualifier Details) or Owner Builder Affidavit
  • 2 copies of scaled drawings, including a to scale roof plan indicating the location of solar panel installation
  • 2 copies of the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) System Approval Report
  • Special Inspector’s Letter certifying the engineer or architect will perform any required inspections and will certify compliance to Town of Lantana at final inspection.

If applicable, also submit two copies of the following:

  • Solar Thermal:
    • Plumbing riser diagram showing the piping layout
    • Specification sheets and installation manuals for all manufactured components including, but not limited to, solar panel, recirculation pumps, supporting frames and mounting
    • Signed and sealed attachment details, flashing details, construction design for the unit and any supporting frame members for the Wind Zone, additional loading, and any site conditions
  • Photovoltaic Systems:
    • Electrical diagram showing PV array configuration, wiring system, overcurrent protection, inverter disconnect, grounding, required signs and AC connection to building 
    • Specification sheets and installation manuals for all manufactured components including, but not limited to: PV modules, inverter(s), combiner box, disconnect and mounting system
    • Signed and sealed attachment details, flashing details, construction design for the unit and any supporting frame members for the Wind Zone, additional loading, and any site conditions
    • For battery backup systems, include a summary of all standby loads, including power ratings and estimated daily energy consumption for each load to show that inverter and battery selection will meet the standby needs
    • Electrical calculations showing that all wire sizing has been determined with proper ampacity, conduit fill and ambient derating factors

 Notes:

  1. Solar projects are required to meet all Lantana Code requirements, including those of Chapter 6. Buildings and Building Regulations. For additional information on Code Requirements, visit https://library.municode.com/fl/lantana/codes/code_of_ordinances.
  2. A Certified NOC is required for permits with a value of greater than $2500 prior to scheduling an inspection.
