Tree City USA
Tree City USA® Program The Town of Lantana is proud to have maintained its status as a Tree City USA for 34 consecutive years. This prestigious award recognizes communities that actively promote the Tree City USA® Program, sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.
The Tree City USA® Program provides direction, technical assistance, public attention, and national recognition for urban and community forestry programs in thousands of towns and cities that more than 120 million people call home.
The Town of Lantana has a storied history of promoting, preserving, and increasing the number of trees that provide vital public benefits—from environmental health to aesthetic beauty—clearly distinguishing our Town from other communities. The many benefits of being a Tree City include creating a framework for action, fostering community education, maintaining a positive public image, and instilling citizen pride.
Growth Award & Community Excellence
The Town is committed to maintaining its status as a leader in municipal forestry. By meeting the four core standards of the Arbor Day Foundation—maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry, and celebrating Arbor Day annually—Lantana ensures that its "Tree City" reputation is backed by consistent action.
The Town continues to look toward the future, seeking opportunities for the Tree City USA Growth Award. This award recognizes communities that go above and beyond standard requirements by improving current programs or creating new initiatives that encourage a higher level of professional tree care and community engagement.
