Karen Lythgoe
MayorBiography
Karen Lythgoe is a lifelong Lantana resident, having moved to the town in 1965. She attended local schools, including Lantana Elementary, Lantana Junior High, and Lake Worth High School.
A dedicated community member, Karen has been actively involved in various organizations. She served on the Lantana Town Council as a Councilmember from 2020 to 2023 and was elected Mayor in 2023. She is currently serving a three-year term as Mayor.
Karen is also committed to regional and state-level issues. She is a member of the Palm Beach County League of Cities, Florida League of Cities and serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida League of Mayors. She actively participates in the Palm Beach County Water Resources Task Force and Palm Beach School District Advisory Boundary Committee. Within the Florida League of Cities, she is a member of the Federal Action Strike Team (FAST), Advocacy Committee, and the Development, Code Compliance, and Redevelopment Legislative Policy Committee.
Before her current role at LexisNexis Risk Solution, Karen worked at the South Florida Water Management District for 15 years. She and her late husband, David, raised their daughter, Rebecca, in Lantana.
Karen remains passionate about Lantana and is dedicated to preserving its unique character and ensuring a bright future for its residents.

Overview
The Town Council comprises five (5) members who serve staggered three-year terms and are elected on a nonpartisan basis by residents of the Town. The Town Council is responsible for passing Ordinances and other policy directives necessary for the operation of the Town. The Mayor serves as the presiding officer at Town Council Meetings and as the official head of the Town for legislative and ceremonial purposes.
