One-Penny Sales Surtax
On November 8, 2016, Palm Beach County voters approved a One-Penny Sales Surtax to finance, plan, construct, reconstruct, renovate and improve needed infrastructure such as buildings, equipment, roads, bridges, sidewalks, streetlights, parks, recreational facilities, drainage, wastewater facilities, and public safety vehicles and equipment. The Town of Lantana is one of 39 municipalities that will receive funds to support public improvements.
The surtax commenced January 1, 2017 and will automatically sunset on December 31, 2026. The Town of Lantana has received $295,648 as of July 31, 2017 and estimates receiving a total of $547,166 for fiscal year 2017. The Town will receive an estimated $712,916 in fiscal year 2018.
For Fiscal Year 2018, the Town plans to fund the following projects with the One-Penny Sales Surtax:
- Sidewalk Improvements
- Repaving Roads & Parking Lots
- Beach Improvement
