2020 Census

Your participation in the Census helps to better our community as a whole. The Town receives $1,400 in funding each year per resident who completes a Census Form indicating the Town of Lantana is their residence. That money is part of the Town’s budget which aids in preventing an increase in taxes. The Census Form only takes about 10 minutes to complete and can be done online, over the phone or be returned by mail.  Remember to count all people (including children) living or staying at an address on April 1 The Census Bureau has a legal commitment to keep census information confidential and will never share information. Please visit 2020census.gov for more information.

Frequently Asked Question:

A different City is listed on my questionnaire or envelope than where I actually live. Will I be counted in the right place?

The actual location of your address has been verified for accuracy. The identification number on your letter or questionnaire links back to our master address & geographic files where we store the information about the correct geographic location to which your housing unit belongs. This geographic information was verified last year through various census operations and census workers who physically located housing unit on the ground.  Housing units were assigned a “geocode” using special census maps and GPS coordinates.

The address on your census form or invitation letter may not list the city name or ZIP code you identify with or are used to seeing on your mail. This is a result of a cost-saving measure that streamlines how the forms are sorted and delivered to you by the U.S. Postal Service. It will NOT affect which city, town or block your household’s responses will be assigned to when we tabulate census results.
