The Mayor and Town Council are elected to three-year terms.  The Mayor (Group 5) is selected by the voters.  Each year following the election, the Council elects from among its members a Vice Mayor and Vice Mayor Pro Tem.  Lantana's municipal elections are held the second Tuesday in March.

Tom was born in Flint, Michigan.  He attended the University of Kentucky, majoring in Business Administration.

He married Karen in 1977 and moved to Lantana in 1981.  They raised two daughters here and have always appreciated Lantana's small town atmosphere and neighborhood schools.

In 1987 Tom formed and chaired the Save Our Schools Committee to keep Lantana's schools from being moved out of town.  The Committee collected signatures from all over town and Tom presented the petition to the school board.  The letter he wrote to the Palm Beach Post along with other media attention convinced the school board to keep and improve our neighborhood schools.

Tom founded Palm Beach Tire, Inc. in 1993 with the philosophy to treat all customers like neighbors.  He is an active member in the Greater Lantana Chamber of Commerce.

His hobbies include chess, history, golf (when he can find the time), bottle collecting and driving his '71 SS454 Chevelle convertible.  He is also a member of the Lantana Historical Society.
